- 01:06 Well, today Zola will be teaching on something,
- 01:08 and a word I don't like, it's called judgment.
- 01:10 I like a throne.
- 01:12 I like the throne part, but I don't think I like the judgment.
- 01:15 Should we worry?
- 01:17 Jeffrey: Well, I think we should be concerned about judgment.
- 01:19 I don't wanna gloss that over, but relative to thrones,
- 01:23 you know, ancients had kings that sat on thrones,
- 01:28 and we don't know anything about that as moderns.
- 01:31 They did, and there was a sense of reverence and awe in having
- 01:34 an opportunity to stand before the king who would pass some
- 01:37 judgment, assess a citizen or a foreigner on some basis.
- 01:41 So, one would read this ancient literature,
- 01:43 and I think it's minded to convey the same.
- 01:45 Zola will unpack some of it.
- 01:47 David: That's great insight. Thank you so much for that.
- 01:49 Right now, let's go to Zola's teaching in Israel.
- 01:53 Zola Levitt: Well, now we're going to talk about what the
- 01:56 whole world calls judgment day, the great white throne.
- 02:00 Now, where to tape something about God's throne in heaven
- 02:06 where he's gonna judge all of the people for all times,
- 02:10 the wicked dead, we puzzled about that.
- 02:14 Finally came to take it in trees.
- 02:17 That is, this is a kibbutz orchard.
- 02:20 These are similar to peach trees in America.
- 02:23 And didn't judgment start around a tree?
- 02:26 And remember the serpent tempted Eve, and she ate of the tree,
- 02:29 and she gave the fruit to her favorite man.
- 02:32 And Adam ate of the fruit, and then God said,
- 02:35 "What did you do?"
- 02:36 and then Adam said, "It was the woman."
- 02:38 Not just that, "It was the woman you gave me,"
- 02:42 the first male chauvinist excuse, I guess you'd say.
- 02:47 And then God made a judgment and that's where judgment started.
- 02:50 And then later on at the great white throne, we'll have dead
- 02:55 trees, so to speak, trees without fruits,
- 02:57 because Jesus described his disciples as,
- 03:00 "Ye shall know them by their fruits."
- 03:03 So, the great white throne is a place where in a way
- 03:07 there would be no trees or the trees would be dead,
- 03:10 all the way from the garden when the first tree,
- 03:13 the tree of life, the tree they were supposed
- 03:16 to avoid led to the first judgment.
- 03:18 The Scripture in Revelation 20:11 says this,
- 03:22 "And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it,
- 03:26 from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away;
- 03:29 and there was found no place for them.
- 03:31 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God;
- 03:35 and the books were opened: and another book was opened,
- 03:38 which is the book of life: and the dead were judged
- 03:41 out of those things which were written in the books,
- 03:43 according to their works."
- 03:45 The dead are judged to begin with by their works, ultimately
- 03:49 by their faith because not one of them has faith in the
- 03:53 Messiah, not even the dead of the Tribulation who were
- 03:59 witnessed to by the 144,000, not the dead of the church age,
- 04:04 or even Christ's time when he was here on earth with them,
- 04:08 not the dead of the Old Testament who
- 04:10 did not listen to God and do their sacrifices and so forth.
- 04:15 And finally, verse 13, "And the sea gave up the dead
- 04:18 which were in it; and death and hell delivered up
- 04:20 the dead which were in them."
- 04:23 The people in hell are the people from the beginning right
- 04:27 up to the end of the Tribulation who died, and then were bound
- 04:31 with Satan 1,000 years, and now they are delivered up.
- 04:34 This is the second resurrection, the resurrection unto judgment.
- 04:39 "And they were judged every man according to their works.
- 04:42 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire.
- 04:45 This is the second death."
- 04:47 After the second resurrection comes the second death
- 04:50 for the wicked.
- 04:52 "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life
- 04:55 was cast into the lake of fire."
- 04:58 It's a judgment from which there's no return, no pleading,
- 05:01 mitigating circumstances, no real chance for those
- 05:07 who have already died without faith to plead,
- 05:10 such as plead their works,
- 05:13 their name then is not in the book of life.
- 05:16 There can be people who say, "I did this and I did that."
- 05:18 We're gonna come to that, but the book of life is
- 05:20 there as an assurance.
- 05:23 As the Scofield Bible puts it very elegantly,
- 05:27 "The book of life is there to answer such as plead
- 05:29 their works for justification, an awful blank where the name
- 05:34 might have been appears in the book of life."
- 05:39 Romans 14 points out for us a couple of judgments actually.
- 05:45 It talks about judgment seat of Christ, and then it says,
- 05:48 "For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee
- 05:51 shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
- 05:55 So then every one of us shall give account
- 05:57 of himself to God."
- 05:58 And that's true, the believers in the judgment seat of Christ
- 06:00 in heaven and the unbelievers at the great white throne
- 06:03 at the very end.
- 06:06 You know, the theologian Meryl Lunger said to me once,
- 06:09 "Heaven is for bad people, hell is for good people."
- 06:12 I know I've said this in other contexts, but it's very
- 06:14 interesting because heaven is for people so bad they would not
- 06:18 appear before God as who they are, but they would only go
- 06:21 with an advocate like Christ.
- 06:23 In other words, we appear to God in the robes
- 06:25 of righteousness of Christ.
- 06:27 When he sees each of us, he says, "My son, come in.
- 06:29 My son, come in."
- 06:32 We have a gift certificate to salvation.
- 06:36 The gift certificate is like a gift certificate on earth.
- 06:41 You take it to the store, they give you the stuff.
- 06:42 There's no charge. It's free.
- 06:44 Now, it isn't really that the stuff is free,
- 06:46 but that someone went there ahead of you and paid for it.
- 06:49 That's our situation when we go to heaven.
- 06:52 The people going to hell are those without an advocate.
- 06:54 They don't go with Christ.
- 06:56 They go on their own merits and they end up standing
- 06:58 before God trying to present their works
- 07:01 in a desperate attempt for salvation.
- 07:04 Now, we talked of resurrections.
- 07:06 There are five resurrections in Scripture.
- 07:09 The resurrection of Christ to begin with is number one.
- 07:12 He's the first man permanently resurrected.
- 07:15 He was resurrected on the Day of First Fruits,
- 07:17 that is the Sunday after Passover, what we've erroneously
- 07:20 come to call Easter after the Babylonian goddess Ishtar.
- 07:24 But its real name is First Fruits, and in our program
- 07:27 about the Rapture we talked about that.
- 07:30 But Jesus also raised others.
- 07:33 Some came out of their graves, it says, and were walking in
- 07:35 Jerusalem, in Matthew 27.
- 07:37 Who were those?
- 07:39 Well, it was the Festival of First Fruits when the farmers
- 07:41 bring in the first fruits of their crops to the temple.
- 07:44 Jesus who kept every law is not a farmer who raises crops,
- 07:48 but Jesus raises people.
- 07:50 So, he raised a few.
- 07:51 Imagine what a powerful witness it would be to see a relative
- 07:54 of yours you buried years before come down the street
- 07:56 and greet you by name, perfectly alive.
- 08:00 That's not something to which you would say,
- 08:01 "I don't buy it."
- 08:03 The second resurrection is the rapture of the church.
- 08:06 The third resurrection is the saints of the Tribulation period
- 08:09 who were beheaded for their faith.
- 08:11 The fourth resurrection is all the Old Testament saints, gosh,
- 08:15 from Adam all through the patriarchs, and the prophets,
- 08:18 and all those personalities who filed their sacrifices,
- 08:22 you might say, against the time when Christ would come,
- 08:25 against the coming of the Messiah, to review their file.
- 08:29 Romans 3:25, God went along with an unregenerate people
- 08:33 until such time as the Messiah would come and forgiveness
- 08:36 would then be dispensed.
- 08:38 And the fifth resurrection is the one we are talking
- 08:41 about now, the resurrection of the wicked dead.
- 08:45 Back after this.

- 10:36 Zola: When we come to this great white throne, some argue,
- 10:39 "Well, but there's different kind of people there."
- 10:41 There's people that were evil, yes, but there's people
- 10:43 that were decent but didn't always know, or didn't--
- 10:48 you know, and they will plead their works
- 10:50 to the Lord and so on.
- 10:51 But it does say that there are degrees of punishment,
- 10:55 that this book of works does take into consideration
- 10:58 different kinds of cases.
- 11:01 There's reference, for example, in Luke 12:47,
- 11:05 a parable of the Lord.
- 11:06 He says, "And that servant, which knew his lord's will,
- 11:10 but prepared not himself, neither did according
- 11:12 to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
- 11:15 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes,
- 11:19 shall be beaten with few stripes.
- 11:22 For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be
- 11:25 much required: and to whom men have committed much,
- 11:29 of him they will ask the more."
- 11:31 So, God will take into consideration really
- 11:34 good works of, how can you say, the decent dead.
- 11:38 They are dead. They were never resurrected.
- 11:40 They were bound with Satan the 1,000 years
- 11:43 and now resurrected only unto judgment
- 11:45 in the second resurrection, but they,
- 11:48 like all groups of people, are more or less evil
- 11:52 and the Lord does take that into consideration.
- 11:54 They are judged as to their works.
- 11:56 But as we said, if they try to justify their works unto
- 12:00 salvation, that is, "I did so much for you, I really ought to
- 12:05 be saved anyhow," then the book of life is brought out and there
- 12:09 is a blank where the name might have been entered
- 12:12 had they received the Lord, had they believed.
- 12:15 And that is covered in Matthew 7:22-23,
- 12:20 "Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord,
- 12:23 have we not prophesied in thy name?
- 12:25 and in thy name have cast out devils?
- 12:27 and in thy name done many wonderful works?
- 12:31 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you:
- 12:34 depart from me, ye that work iniquity."
- 12:38 You know, in doing works in this world, let's say there
- 12:42 are unbelievers that do decent works.
- 12:44 The United Way is a charity equal to the Salvation Army.
- 12:49 They do good works, they help the poor, the collect money,
- 12:51 they dispense it properly, hopefully.
- 12:55 Good Will is another, and so on.
- 12:57 But you know, if you can't tell the United Way
- 13:00 from the Salvation Army, then something's wrong
- 13:02 with the Salvation Army.
- 13:04 I've said this before in other contexts,
- 13:06 but the Salvation Army's good works are done
- 13:09 for love of the Lord.
- 13:11 In Revelation 2 and 3 when the Lord talks to the seven
- 13:14 churches, he criticizes one of them, Ephesus,
- 13:18 because they lost their first love, as he says.
- 13:21 Indeed, there were people exorcising demons in his name
- 13:23 and so on, and they did expose false exorcists.
- 13:26 He grants them that, but they were not doing these things for
- 13:30 love of Christ and this is the motive of the Salvation Army.
- 13:35 If people aren't being saved then it's mere empty works.
- 13:39 Gosh, I spoke to the Salvation Army one time and they read
- 13:42 my books and watched my programs for some six months
- 13:45 before I was allowed to speak.
- 13:47 And when I finally came and they had assured themselves
- 13:49 the doctrine was correct, I spoke to drunks
- 13:53 from the sidewalks, but they wanted to be sure
- 13:57 that what I said was right.
- 13:59 I was pleased by that.
- 14:01 At the Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago, I was impressed
- 14:04 by the head of the mission.
- 14:06 People were being taken in in litters, and I said to him,
- 14:10 "Can these people really understand the gospel
- 14:12 when you preach here?"
- 14:13 And he said, "Oh yes, they can. I understood it."
- 14:16 I said, "When did you start this work?"
- 14:18 He said, "I didn't start it.
- 14:19 I came in here myself on a litter."
- 14:22 So, when the good works are done for love of Christ,
- 14:24 they result in love of Christ.
- 14:26 They end up as fruit-bearing trees.
- 14:29 They do not come to this great white throne judgment.
- 14:31 They are not the dead.
- 14:33 They are the resurrected living going on to eternity,
- 14:35 and we're gonna talk about that next week.
- 14:39 To recap all these different judgments,
- 14:42 and there are some judgments in the Bible.
- 14:45 There's, first off, the judgment of the believer's sins
- 14:48 in the cross of Christ.
- 14:49 We all understand that one.
- 14:51 Then the believer's self-judgment.
- 14:53 Paul says in 1 Corinthians 11:31,
- 14:55 "If we judged ourselves,
- 14:57 we would not come under judgment."
- 14:58 Sure, if everybody took care of their own judgment,
- 15:01 we'd all be forgiven.
- 15:03 The judgment seat of Christ, 2 Corinthians 5:10,
- 15:06 we must all appear when we go to heaven.
- 15:08 The judgment of individual gentiles at the return of Christ
- 15:11 on earth, the so-called sheep and goats judgment
- 15:14 before the kingdom starts.
- 15:16 The judgment of Israel at the return of Christ to earth.
- 15:19 "As I judged your fathers in the desert of the land of Egypt,
- 15:22 so I will judge you, declares the Sovereign Lord,"
- 15:25 in Ezekiel 20:36-37.
- 15:29 The judgment of the angels after the 1,000 years.
- 15:32 And the judgment of the wicked and the dead with which
- 15:35 the history of the present earth ends.
- 15:37 That's the great white throne judgment
- 15:39 we've been talking about in this program.
- 15:41 The Lord speaks like someone who holds a rod.
- 15:45 In fact, in Ezekiel 20:37, "I will take note of you
- 15:48 as you pass under my rod, and bring you into
- 15:50 the bond of the covenant."
- 15:52 So when you see a shepherd here in Israel,
- 15:54 they always have a long rod to guide their animals.
- 15:58 That's an important feature of guiding sheep,
- 16:01 and we are sheep and goats too.
- 16:03 That is, at the Tribulation end, the people of the world will be
- 16:06 divided into those two groups again
- 16:08 with the rod of God Almighty.
- 16:12 Those are all the judgments.
- 16:14 You don't really have to know them,
- 16:15 especially if you believe in Jesus Christ.
- 16:19 Acts 16:31 is right to the point, "Believe on the Lord
- 16:22 Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved."
- 16:24 That's all that's necessary here.
- 16:27 No other actions can save you and no other thing will ever get
- 16:34 you lost again once you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 16:38 Well, there's a lot at stake, let me say it that way.
- 16:42 The people that are judged in the various judgments and
- 16:47 somehow fail out and come to the great white throne through one
- 16:50 or another judgment come under Proverbs 10:30.
- 16:55 "The righteous shall never be removed:
- 16:57 but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth."
- 17:01 And the reference there, unfortunately,
- 17:03 is to the new earth, the new heaven, the new Jerusalem,
- 17:07 the period we call eternity.

- 21:30 Certainly you must look at this experience here
- 21:33 and it's not just some theological,
- 21:34 "Well, here's the Jewish roots,
- 21:36 and here's how you connect the dots."
- 21:38 I mean, this is an outgrowth, your life is an outgrowth--this.
- 21:41 Talk to me. You're the experts, girl, guy.
- 21:43 Talk to me.
- 21:45 Kirsten: You ready, worship leader?
- 21:46 David: You know what?
- 21:48 Going to Israel, my whole view of worship changed where I think
- 21:54 of him as my Father, as almost like Daddy, a best friend.
- 22:00 But when I got to Israel, I was in awe.
- 22:04 And just my worship changed when I got to Israel, and realized,
- 22:10 and stood where he was crucified,
- 22:13 where he performed miracles, and just realized how in awe
- 22:19 I am of all that he's done for us.
- 22:21 Jeffrey: Right, and certainly a trip to Israel will do that.
- 22:24 Truth be known, a lot of our good viewers can't go to Israel,
- 22:27 but they go to the book and they go to church.
- 22:30 I mean, how do you understand it?
- 22:33 You're not just a musician and a singer.
- 22:35 I mean, in bringing people into God's presence
- 22:38 to be confronted with the Lord--
- 22:40 Kirsten: I have something. I have something.
- 22:42 I'm with you.
- 22:43 In church work, and that's been our whole life--
- 22:46 David: Right.
- 22:47 Kirsten: You grew up in a musical family.
- 22:49 Your father was a pastor.
- 22:50 My parents were ministers of music.
- 22:52 I've been in the church.
- 22:53 And I think--it talks about that veil that we--
- 22:57 you know, we can't see through, and I see unfortunately--
- 23:00 not all of you, but I see this almost veil
- 23:04 over people's eyes in worship, in church now.
- 23:08 And I think, you know, we don't get it.
- 23:11 We'll get it there.
- 23:13 That will be the worship service forever.
- 23:17 We will see him as he is.
- 23:20 Jeffrey: Okay, let's move the ball down a little further.
- 23:23 We're talking about eschatology.
- 23:25 At some future point in time, we'll gather around the throne,
- 23:30 not in fear and trepidation, but in adoration, okay?
- 23:34 And here, we're told, futuristic, where believers
- 23:37 will be giving voice, "Worthy are you, our Lord,
- 23:40 to receive glory, and honor, and power."
- 23:42 You were saying, oh, what an honor it is to be with me.
- 23:44 Never mind me, we're gonna be around the one
- 23:46 who really gives--who's worthy of the honor.
- 23:49 Do you see church and a worship experience in church today
- 23:54 as a portant of things to come?
- 23:57 That is to say that gathering, a church is an advanced colony
- 24:01 where the King is worshiped and we do there.
- 24:06 It's a microcosm of a future existence.
- 24:09 What say the experts?
- 24:10 David: My desire as a worship leader is that your worship on
- 24:14 Sunday, or whenever you worship, is the start of your week and
- 24:18 it's gonna help you as you go through your week with so many
- 24:22 things that we go through in our lives: sickness,
- 24:26 marriages breaking up, whatever it might be.
- 24:29 But that worship that we sang on Sunday, "Holy, holy, holy
- 24:33 is the Lord God Almighty who was, and is,
- 24:36 and is to come," that's gotta get in our spirit.
- 24:39 Kirsten: And one day we will be before the King of kings.
- 24:42 That's our future and it should be--
- 24:48 I think it should be part of what is right now,
- 24:51 because he's there with us, right?
- 24:53 Jeffrey: Well, here's the problem, and you tell me.
- 24:55 There's 168 hours in a week.
- 24:58 Someone goes to a worship service and you're going--
- 25:03 in short order, you'll be in Houston at a church,
- 25:05 10,000 people, correct?
- 25:07 David: On Sunday, yeah.
- 25:08 Jeffrey: Contact the ministry. Get these guys.
- 25:10 They're second to none. So, you lead people in that.
- 25:14 There's 168 hours in a week. They get you for 30 minutes.
- 25:17 They spend the better part of the week hearing voices of their
- 25:20 own discouragement, depression, and disorientation.
- 25:23 We do need to get the Spirit-- the faith-filled stuff
- 25:27 up in the mind and heart, and the other stuff banished,
- 25:31 and good worship certainly facilitates that, yes?
- 25:34 Kirsten: Yeah? You would hope so?
- 25:37 And I know a lot of churches out there are in that worship mode,
- 25:41 but a lot aren't.
- 25:43 I think a lot walk in not thinking this is almost
- 25:45 rehearsal for that time when we will be in heaven
- 25:49 and he's sitting there.
- 25:50 And I think people say, "I don't even know
- 25:52 if I'll be able to stand.
- 25:53 I'll be able to fall down."
- 25:55 And it's just-- and to me I'm like, well,
- 25:56 he is here right now.
- 25:57 Let's live in--I like what you said about
- 26:00 it's practice for that time.
- 26:02 Jeffrey: I don't wanna jump in.
- 26:03 Were you gonna say something to that?
- 26:05 David: Well, I felt the Lord speaking to me not long ago
- 26:07 where I felt like my job was to make sure that everyone
- 26:10 had a worship experience.
- 26:12 And I felt the Lord saying to me, "Don't worry about them,
- 26:14 just concentrate on me," and that's what I do now.
- 26:18 Jeffrey: Yes.
- 26:20 Kirsten: And I think that's what that will be.
- 26:21 We're just--it's almost one on one.
- 26:22 Jeffrey: I mean, I think-- I mean,
- 26:24 we're looking at the kingdom to come,
- 26:27 intellectually how to understand it.
- 26:30 But I think that the experience of receiving Jesus now,
- 26:35 the blessings now, gathering as the body now,
- 26:39 that we are an advanced colony of the kingdom to come.
- 26:43 If it's a war, then we are the troops in early.
- 26:50 We're participating in something that's gonna be happening later
- 26:52 more fully in the world to come.
- 26:55 Kirsten: Oh, this is good. Our time goes by so fast.
- 26:58 Thank you so much.
- 27:00 David: If you're not in a place where you have a worship
- 27:03 experience, our prayer today is that you would find
