Episode: “Cleansing the Land”
Josiah accelerates into reformation overdrive! Now, with the law as his guide, the young king enacts the most extreme religious reforms, leading the nation into a great awakening. How can Believers today act with the same zeal as Josiah? Is it too late for the Church to stand up and change the course of the world?
Series: “Josiah and the Last Reformation”
Josiah’s life and the last days of the Kingdom of Judah parallel the last days of Believers today. Through His prophets, God forewarned Judah of the destruction to come at the hands of the Babylonians due to their rebellious hearts. America has fallen into similar sin and turned from God. This could lead to the removal of America as a world superpower and allow the emergence of the final Babylon—Babylon the Great.
However, Josiah humbled himself before God and pushed the greatest moral and spiritual reformation in all of history, extending God’s prophetic timetable of judgment. Believers today could witness a final Last Days outpouring of the Holy Spirit as prophesied in Joel, if we would only repent and cry out to God.

- 19:43 everybody still, like the Jews of old, trying to earn their
- 19:47 salvation, trying to earn that love, and because it's so far
- 19:51 unattainable, they don't even read the Word of God, and they
- 19:54 don't know the truth that it’s by love, that it’s a free gift.
- 19:57 Mel: It makes it simple.
- 19:59 And one of the things that I've found over the years that if
- 20:02 it's not simple, it's not God.
- 20:05 You know, Jesus said, Matthew 18:3, he says, "Unless you
- 20:08 become as a little child, you can't enter the kingdom
- 20:10 of heaven."
- 20:11 He wasn’t talking about the abode of God, because earlier,
- 20:14 that was Matthew 18, Matthew 6, he taught his disciples, taught
- 20:19 us, "Pray, thy kingdom come, thy will be done in earth as it is
- 20:24 in heaven."
- 20:25 You know, in earth--in heaven, nobody's missing no body parts.
- 20:28 They're not missing eyes, not missing arms and legs, and so,
- 20:33 you gotta be like a little child to believe that.
- 20:36 Love never fails.
- 20:38 I wrote a little mini-book called "Unimaginable Love," and
- 20:42 I take Ephesians 3:19 and that word, "know," and I expounded
- 20:46 the whole book what that word "know” means.
- 20:48 And that word “know,” to know the love of Christ that passes
- 20:52 all knowledge, it has more meanings than just to
- 20:55 know intellectually.
- 20:57 First you have to know it intellectually, but then you
- 20:59 read the Bible and you learn to talk words of love.
- 21:03 You have actions of love.
- 21:04 You think love.
- 21:06 You--in other words, you're driving down the highway and
- 21:10 some guy gives you this hand signal and it's not like this,
- 21:13 you know.
- 21:15 Joshua: There's only one of 'em selected at that moment, right?
- 21:16 Mel: And so, that's when you react in love.
- 21:21 You don't act naturally what you wanna do, you know.
- 21:26 When people discover the unconditional love of God in
- 21:30 their life, their "want tos" change.
- 21:33 You know, even--now, this sounds a little gross, but it's in the
- 21:36 Bible in 1 Peter, where it says, "The person that goes into sin
- 21:40 is like the dog eating his vomit."
- 21:43 And the greatest pleasures that this world has to offer is vomit
- 21:49 compared to what God has.
- 21:51 The pleasures of holiness outrules the best--the greatest
- 21:59 pleasures this world could ever offer.
- 22:03 And so, when we--when we discover the great depths of how
- 22:07 much God loves you--I remember several years ago, that it
- 22:11 was--I was 39 years of age, and I went to heaven.
- 22:15 I had seen Jesus.
- 22:16 Just to make a long story short, that I was walking down the
- 22:19 street, and I was talking to different people I've seen.
- 22:23 Then I heard--it was probably about--maybe about 100 feet in
- 22:26 back of me, I'm walking down this road, and I heard my
- 22:30 name, "Mel!"
- 22:32 I turned and it was Jesus, and he had brown eyes just like
- 22:35 you guys.
- 22:36 Caleb: Yes, we look like Jesus.
- 22:38 Mel: And he come kind of trotting to me with his arms out
- 22:41 like this, and he put his arms around me and hugged me, and he
- 22:44 says, "Oh, so good to see you."
- 22:46 And he made me feel--I'll never forget this.
- 22:50 Any time i have a hard--I'm going through a hard time, I
- 22:54 remember, I go back and think of this.
- 22:57 He made me feel like I was his best friend, like there was
- 23:01 nobody else in--in existence but me, that he loved me.
- 23:06 And it's--and it's--it's the goodness of God that these
- 23:08 people repentance.
- 23:12 David: The guys were teaching about Josiah smashing idols, and
- 23:15 I've just got to think that he probably made some enemies
- 23:18 through this, right?
- 23:20 Joshua: You kinda always make enemies when you're doing what's
- 23:22 right because that means you gotta tell everybody they're
- 23:24 doing what's wrong, and that's not a very popular thing to
- 23:27 hear, not in any time period.
- 23:29 Caleb: I'm sure it took massive courage because he was
- 23:31 realigning the country's laws of man with the laws of God, and
- 23:35 sometimes that hurts the flesh.
- 23:36 We get used to doing sin over and over again.
- 23:39 It becomes perpetual, becomes habit, and to break those habits
- 23:42 can become painful.
- 23:43 Kristen: I've got to say, it's the mama, maybe the grandma
- 23:46 heart in me, that he, like, put to death all these priests that
- 23:52 were--I'm gonna--I'm gonna take a--a different viewpoint.
- 23:55 They were just doing their jobs, what they were raised to do,
- 23:58 probably thought that's who they were called to be.
- 24:01 I'm j--you know, and isn't that a little harsh to kill them all,
- 24:05 he couldn't have converted them.
- 24:06 Caleb: But remember, at this time, Jeremiah was prophesying
- 24:09 words of judgment and destruction.
- 24:11 They heard the truth.
- 24:12 God is not unjust.
- 24:14 He makes sure everybody has that choice, that opportunity.
- 24:17 But right now, in America, we've come to the same point that the
- 24:21 kingdom of Judah did in the past.
- 24:23 And you look at our country, I don't think we're any better
- 24:26 than the nation of Judah before.
- 24:27 We've legalized homosexual marriages.
- 24:29 Finally, Roe versus Wade was thrown out, but, you know, each
- 24:33 state is trying to bring back abortion, and that's
- 24:34 child sacrifice.
- 24:36 Sexual perversion is running rampant, and--and it's all about
- 24:40 indoctrinating our children into these lifestyles, these ways.
- 24:43 We see witchcraft prevalent everywhere, but it's--it's fun.
- 24:47 It's TV shows.
- 24:48 It's, you know, role-playing.
- 24:50 And it's no different from the times of the past, and I believe
- 24:52 judgment is coming to our nation if we don't take action and
- 24:55 repent like Josiah did.
- 24:56 He cleaned house.
- 24:58 I mean, he went door-to-door finding any house idol that
- 25:02 people had to make sure that they would not be under
- 25:05 the curse.
- 25:06 What would happen if we had a leader like that in
- 25:08 America today?
- 25:09 Kristen: Can you--But--no, you go ahead.
- 25:11 David: Yeah, the point is that we need to follow his example.
- 25:15 Kristen: Right, but who's the person that literally can go
- 25:18 door-to-door and go, "Okay, that's out, that's out."
- 25:21 How do you do that in today's society?
- 25:23 Joshua: You can't in the same way as far as demanding it
- 25:25 because we don't have king.
- 25:27 But because we have a platform like the internet, one person
- 25:30 can reach every door in the world, and instead of going in
- 25:34 there and demanding and saying, "This was the ultimatum," you
- 25:37 stand and just speak the truth.
- 25:39 You know, Josiah had the right to tell them.
- 25:41 Well, we have the right given to us by the Father to declare the
- 25:44 truth, and so, we can knock on every door of every internet, of
- 25:47 every chat room, of every social media page, of anything out
- 25:49 there and say, "This is the truth, and it's time to repent,
- 25:52 because without repentance, you will pay the price for
- 25:55 your actions."
- 25:56 God is a loving God who only gives us so many opportunities
- 25:59 before it's finally time to pay for those sins that we've been
- 26:02 engaged in.
- 26:03 It's time today to exercise that repentance and be the one
- 26:06 person, even if it's only you, that's standing for truth.
- 26:09 David: Amen.
- 26:10 We'll be right back.
- 26:12 Joshua: You know when a really cool movie comes out and they
- 26:14 make a novelization of it which goes into way more depth than
- 26:16 the movie's times allotted but then the book ends up sucking?
- 26:19 Well, this is not that scenario.
- 26:20 This week, we're offering the book, "Josiah and the Last
- 26:23 Reformation," written by my little brother.

- 26:33 Learn more about idol smashing in "Josiah in the
- 26:36 Last Reformation."
- 26:37 Like I'd even read.
- 26:39 Caleb: Josh, we're still recording!
- 26:41 Joshua: Uh-oh.
- 26:42 Kristen: Today's topic is not an easy one to share, but it is
- 26:47 truth, and that's our heartbeat here in this ministry.
