  • 00:14 Joshua Colson: Hey, everybody. I'm Joshua.
  • 00:16 Caleb Colson: And I'm Caleb.
  • 00:17 Joshua: Today is a very special episode.
  • 00:19 We're gonna take you to Israel.
  • 00:21 As you know, October 7 was a terrible, tragic day.
  • 00:24 We are going to tell you these stories again through the
  • 00:27 perspective of an Israeli survivor.
  • 00:29 We were there that day and witnessed the rockets attacks as
  • 00:32 far as Jerusalem.
  • 00:34 But so much more happened and we want to get into them.
  • 00:36 Caleb: That's right.
  • 00:38 The people who lived around the Gaza Envelope in the kibbutzim
  • 00:40 and the moshav suffered great persecution.
  • 00:43 They were massacred, they were brutally raped, they
  • 00:45 were kidnapped.
  • 00:46 And it's sad because nearly 1300 Jews died and the news media
  • 00:51 would like to gloss over that truth, but we want to remind you
  • 00:54 of their sacrifice, the greatest sacrifice of Jewish people in a
  • 00:57 single day since the Holocaust.
  • 00:59 Joshua: You cannot forget these.
  • 01:00 You have to keep retelling the stories so that it is not washed
  • 01:03 away by fake history.
  • 01:04 I want you guys to tune in now to hear this story.
  • 01:09 Caleb: Today, we're heading to the grounds of the infamous
  • 01:11 Re'im music Festival massacre.
  • 01:14 Tragically, 364 civilians were killed and many more wounded by
  • 01:19 Hamas at the Supernova Sukkot Gathering.
  • 01:23 This open air-music festival was scheduled during the Jewish
  • 01:26 holiday of Shemini Atzeret.
  • 01:29 At least 40 hostages were also taken from this location.
  • 01:34 At the conclusion of October 7, Re'im attained the record for
  • 01:37 the largest number of casualties out of any invasion location
  • 01:41 targeting Israeli civilians.
  • 01:43 Throughout the night and early morning hours, thousands had
  • 01:46 gathered, singing and dancing to psytrance music under the shadow
  • 01:50 of a large inflatable Buddha statue.
  • 01:52 Without warning, the terrorists came from land and the air with
  • 01:58 one goal in mind, eradicating a singular people group, the Jews.
  • 02:04 Tragically, 50 survivors of the music festival have already
  • 02:07 committed suicide, while others suffer PTSD.
  • 02:13 Amit Musaaei is a survivor of the festival and he's agreed to
  • 02:17 share his story with us.
  • 02:21 Caleb: I'm deeply honored to be standing here with Amit Musaaei.
  • 02:24 He's a tour guide who takes Christians like you,
  • 02:27 evangelicals, to the land and teaches about the Bible.
  • 02:30 Thank you for joining me today.
  • 02:32 Amit Musaaei: Thank you so much for having me.
  • 02:34 Caleb: Amit, you were here on October 7 at this Nova music
  • 02:38 festival when the terrorists came in and you have quite a
  • 02:40 story to tell.
  • 02:42 Could you tell us what happened?
  • 02:43 Amit: Sure.
  • 02:44 So, in my professional life, I'm a tour guide.
  • 02:46 I'm taking groups, as you said, but on my free time, I'm going
  • 02:51 with friends to parties and festivals like the Nova
  • 02:55 music festival.
  • 02:57 I'm also married.
  • 02:59 I have three daughters.
  • 03:00 My wife is not so much into this music style, which is a benefit
  • 03:03 for me because there is always someone to be with the kids.
  • 03:06 So I have three daughters.
  • 03:07 I have a ten years old, eight years old, and five years old.
  • 03:11 And coming to this festival, we were supposed to be here seven
  • 03:17 of us.
  • 03:18 I left my home in Holon.
  • 03:21 Holon is in the Tel Aviv district and it's approximately
  • 03:25 one hour, thirty minutes drive from home to this location.
  • 03:31 I left home with three of my friends.
  • 03:33 Their name are Osher, Alone, and Alon, and those are like
  • 03:40 my best friends.
  • 03:44 So we left the home at midnight and we decided to use my
  • 03:49 vehicle, which is a Subaru Crosstrek 4W--AWD, and one of
  • 03:56 the friends that would come later to the party just came to
  • 04:00 give us a blessing.
  • 04:01 "Have a good ride.
  • 04:02 We'll see you later."
  • 04:04 His name is Adir and he was supposed to come here with his
  • 04:06 wife Shiraz and their friend, Celine.
  • 04:10 So, we just came to separate and we started to drive down south.
  • 04:15 As I said, it's like one hour, thirty minutes drive.
  • 04:19 Upon arrival, we were coming out of road number 232, going down
  • 04:26 to the gravel roots that bring us here.
  • 04:29 The first thing we've done is parking the vehicle, obviously.
  • 04:32 So the parking lot is located behind you guys.
  • 04:35 There were already, I would say, maybe 2000, possibly even more,
  • 04:41 people already here.
  • 04:42 So that was 1:30 a.m. of October 7.
  • 04:45 The music started the night before, 8 p.m., 7 p.m.
  • 04:49 they already started to play music and some people just like
  • 04:52 to show up earlier.
  • 04:54 We also appreciate coming earlier because it's a better
  • 04:57 opportunity to find a suitable camping site.
  • 05:01 So at about 6:15 a.m.
  • 05:05 I was in the Mushroom dance floor.
  • 05:07 So there were two dance floors here.
  • 05:09 The Nova dance floor, which is the bigger one.
  • 05:12 The Mushroom dance floor is the smaller one and it's on the
  • 05:16 northern edge of the festival's perimeter.
  • 05:20 So being there, I saw that the sun is about to show and I
  • 05:24 decided to go back to my tent to bring sunglasses.
  • 05:28 That's important.
  • 05:29 I brought my sunglasses and Alon, who was with me over
  • 05:32 there, the two other friends were in the main dance floor.
  • 05:37 So coming back with the sunglasses, I stopped between
  • 05:40 the two stages for a moment of oh.
  • 05:43 And now we can move to the other location if you want.
  • 05:46 Caleb: Yeah, come show us.
  • 05:50 Amit: So I'm coming to this location and I'm based between
  • 05:54 the two stages.
  • 05:56 One is over there, one is over there.
  • 05:57 My intention is to go back to my friend to have some
  • 06:00 more dancing.
  • 06:01 And then I realized, okay, it's now 6:15 a.m.
  • 06:05 and my friends are on the way.
  • 06:06 My friends are coming from Holon, three of them.
  • 06:10 They say they're gonna show up around sunrise time and we've
  • 06:14 been texting with them the entire night.
  • 06:16 We also complained that we forgot all our snacks.
  • 06:18 So I'm taking out my phone and I'm calling my friend Adir.
  • 06:23 Adir is answering the phone and then we have this conversation.
  • 06:26 I'm asking him, "Where you are," and he tells me, "Hey, listen,
  • 06:29 I'm on my way.
  • 06:31 I'm 20 minutes away from you.
  • 06:32 You texted us that you have no food.
  • 06:33 You need us to stop somewhere and to buy some snacks?"
  • 06:35 I told him, "No, no worries.
  • 06:37 Don't worry about it.
  • 06:38 We'll be fine."
  • 06:39 And actually, what I've told him that, I knew inside myself that
  • 06:43 Adir already took care of us because this is the person who
  • 06:46 he is.
  • 06:48 He always takes care of others.

  • 07:00 So I told him, "Forget about it.

  • 07:05 I've asked recently the Nova production team about the
  • 07:08 numbers here.

  • 07:13 By the early morning hours I guess that approximately 3000

  • 07:24 people that are just selling stuff on the food stalls, which
  • 07:28 would be located over here in two rows.
  • 07:31 So to precede my story, I'm going on that direction to the

  • 09:25 Gaza since 2002.
  • 09:28 Thousands of rockets have been sent here since 2002.
  • 09:33 So, true, we have Iron Dome and that could protect us, but Iron
  • 09:37 Dome is not 100% guaranteed to intercept.
  • 09:40 Even if it intercept, the main worry that runs in my head, and
  • 09:44 this is all in seconds, is that if they would intercept, they
  • 09:48 would not intercept over Sderot, they will not intercept over
  • 09:51 the kibbutzim.
  • 09:52 The interceptions will happen on top of the open lands.
  • 09:55 This is how Iron Dome works.
  • 09:58 They stopped the music, the DJ booth, someone took over and
  • 10:01 they say to everybody, "Run away, we are under attack.
  • 10:05 There is a rocket attack and there are interceptions of
  • 10:07 Iron Dome."

  • 10:20 What would that give us?
  • 10:21 Protection from falling debris.
  • 10:25 Iron Dome intercept a rocket in the sky, but it's not evaporate
  • 10:30 the rocket, okay?
  • 10:32 It's not like in the cartoons.
  • 10:34 It brings down shreds and shreds can come in this size and they
  • 10:39 can come in this size.
  • 10:40 We're talking about, like, rockets, like big portions of
  • 10:43 pipes falling down to earth.
  • 10:45 So that's what we do, and so everybody on the ground.
  • 10:48 Some people were confused.
  • 10:49 Some people were walking.
  • 10:50 Some people were running.
  • 10:52 It became very chaotic.
  • 10:54 And then someone said, "Run away, evacuate the area."
  • 10:59 So we start to run away.
  • 11:01 We run on that direction towards the main gate of the festival.
  • 11:05 I see the rockets coming out, I see the interceptions in front
  • 11:08 of my eyes, and it's a massive amount of rockets.
  • 11:12 That day only, October 7, we talk about 3000 rockets that
  • 11:15 have been shot to Israel.
  • 11:17 I'm with my friend Alone and I tell him, "Let's go."

  • 20:06 weapon, a pistol, but the guy is pale and definitely in shock.
  • 20:12 I need to process the information right now and what
  • 20:15 I'm processing is, I'm about to die.
  • 20:18 This terrorist will show up sometime soon.
  • 20:21 He will start shoot at us.
  • 20:23 He can hit me in the head, in the heart, and I'm dead.
  • 20:26 It's lethal.
  • 20:27 It's short distance and I have nothing to protect myself with.
  • 20:31 I'm turning back to my friends who are lying on the ground
  • 20:33 behind me and I tell them, "Guys, I don't
  • 20:35 think I'm gonna survive this.
  • 20:36 If you will survive this, tell my wife and daughters that
  • 20:38 I love them and I'm sorry."
  • 20:41 And minutes after, nothing happened and I start to see
  • 20:44 people coming out from their hiding spaces.
  • 20:47 So we are standing over there and I find, like, an emergency
  • 20:51 door into the building.
  • 20:53 I'm pulling the door--pushing the door, actually, and I'm in
  • 20:57 the kitchen of the restaurant in that gas station, together with
  • 21:01 possibly 40 other people.
  • 21:04 We were there for like one hour, twenty minutes until some
  • 21:08 soldiers had arrived and advised us to continue driving south
  • 21:11 because we are in an unsafe territory.
  • 21:12 There are battles all around us.
  • 21:15 We were already acknowledged about the terrorist invasion
  • 21:18 because some footage videos came in to the phones showing us a
  • 21:22 pickup truck fully occupied with terrorists taking down a police
  • 21:26 vehicle in Ofakim.
  • 21:28 And our location, our hiding spot, was in the
  • 21:30 windmill section.
  • 21:31 We were very close to Ofakim, maybe 4 miles away from us.
  • 21:36 What I made sense of is that the vehicle that I saw destroyed,
  • 21:41 and then the shooting towards us, came from two different
  • 21:43 pickup trucks.
  • 21:44 Was--one was in front of me, one was behind me, and I was just
  • 21:47 locked between them without knowing.
  • 21:49 They were already on the roads.
  • 21:52 So we were listening to those soldiers that advised us
  • 21:54 to move.
  • 21:56 We left that building, drove 8 miles away.
  • 21:59 Now I'm driving 75 miles per hour.
  • 22:01 I'm fully aware of the terrorists.
  • 22:03 We arrived to Kibbutz Tze'elim, which welcomed us.
  • 22:07 It's about 20 miles away from the Gaza border.
  • 22:10 So it's more safe over there.
  • 22:12 But now we are processing everything and mostly worrying
  • 22:15 for our friends who are not responding to the
  • 22:17 phones anymore.
  • 22:19 The families are calling us with hopes that we saw them, but we
  • 22:21 told them, "Listen, they never made it to meet us yet.
  • 22:24 They were on the way and all we know that they're in a bomb
  • 22:26 shelter in Mefalsim and they heard shootings and they saw
  • 22:30 people in uniforms," which, by that time, we already knew that
  • 22:33 the terrorists disguised themselves as soldiers.
  • 22:37 They have been in a bomb shelter, something like 15
  • 22:39 minutes, they were very close to one of the breaching points of
  • 22:42 the terrorist, one mile away exactly.
  • 22:45 The terrorists took over the road.
  • 22:47 They stormed towards north and towards south, which means they
  • 22:51 came all the way to Mefalsim and Sderot, and also coming down
  • 22:54 here and even further south.
  • 22:57 They've made road ambushes.
  • 22:59 They killed a lot of people on the road.
  • 23:00 And once they've arrived to the location of my friends, they
  • 23:03 also tried to take over the kibbutz, without success.
  • 23:06 So they centered their goal in killing as much people as
  • 23:10 possible by the entrance to the kibbutz.
  • 23:12 They killed some civilians that were just on the road and then
  • 23:15 they come to the bomb shelter.
  • 23:17 Besides my three friends, two other people were there.
  • 23:21 One of them is Raz, who survived, another one was
  • 23:23 Shlomi, he was 50 years old, and the five of them were hiding
  • 23:27 in the bomb shelter.
  • 23:29 The terrorists came to the bomb shelter entrance, he throw
  • 23:31 grenades inside.
  • 23:32 He killed Shiraz, he killed Shlomi.
  • 23:36 He severely injured Celine.
  • 23:38 Adir managed to step out and then he was killed from
  • 23:41 point blank.
  • 23:46 The terrorists then came in to execute them.
  • 23:49 Raz managed to hide behind the bodies of the ladies and then
  • 23:55 the terrorists left.
  • 23:56 They actually used an RPG to destroy the gates to the kibbutz
  • 24:02 and then they stormed in with hopes to take some hostages.
  • 24:05 They were not so successful in doing so, but there was a gap of
  • 24:08 time that the space was empty, so Raz survived, went out to
  • 24:12 call for help.
  • 24:13 He went into the kibbutz.
  • 24:16 He knocks on the first door he see.
  • 24:21 The house owner opened the door for him, holding a knife, coming
  • 24:24 to kill him, and he told him, "No, don't kill me.
  • 24:26 I'm an Israeli Jew."
  • 24:27 And then he fainted out and the next thing he remembers is
  • 24:30 himself in the hospital, testifying for Adir's brothers
  • 24:32 about the death of the beloved brother, his wife, and the
  • 24:36 friend Celine.
  • 24:39 Adir and Shiraz were not just like my friends, they were me
