Caption transcript for Zion Forever: “Mount of Olives” (8/9)
- 00:04 Abraham saw the glory of God over this mountain
- 00:06 and came up here in obedience to the LORD
- 00:09 to sacrifice Isaac.
- 00:10 But God stopped him.
- 00:12 Looking down through the corridors of time
- 00:14 from before the foundation of the world
- 00:16 he knew that there was a greater sacrifice to come
- 00:19 it would be the sacrifice of His [God's] son, Yeshua,
- 00:21 Yeshua HaMashiach
- 00:50 For Zion's sake I will not hold my peace
- 00:54 And for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest
- 00:57 until her righteousness goes forth as brightness
- 01:02 and her salvation as a lamp that burns.
- 01:15 Wow, talk about
- 01:17 location, location, location.
- 01:19 we are at the
- 01:20 epicenter of the earth.
- 01:22 We are at ground zero
- 01:23 of the purposes of God in the earth for all time.
- 01:27 We are in Yerushalayim
- 01:28 with the Dome of the Rock behind us
- 01:30 and the future in front of us.
- 01:32 Absolutely!
- 01:33 You know Yerushalayim is plural in Hebrew.
- 01:35 It means the Jerusalem above
- 01:37 and the Jerusalem here on this temporal plain.
- 01:41 To be able to understand Jerusalem
- 01:44 you can't look at it in the temporal,
- 01:46 you have to look to it through eternal eyes.
- 01:49 And you have to see what God is seeing
- 01:51 and that he is about to have his eternal throne come down out of heaven
- 01:56 and establish his eternal rule and reign right here.
- 02:00 Exactly so, we know now
- 02:02 that this is HaMakom
- 02:03 It is "the place".
- 02:05 The Jewish people are praying for the rebuilding of the Temple.
- 02:07 The Christians looking for Messiah Yeshua.
- 02:10 And the Muslims believing that this is their 3rd most Holy Place in the earth.
- 02:14 But we know the reality is that the ultimate Makom
- 02:18 the ultimate "place", is in the heart of God,
- 02:20 in the person of Yeshua HaMashiach.
- 02:23 You know God is going to recover what David saw
- 02:26 but what he was not allowed to build.
- 02:28 Solomon built it,
- 02:29 then Herod built it,
- 02:31 then there will be a millennial Temple,
- 02:33 and before that there will be a tribulation Temple.
- 02:35 God is going to be exalted in this place
- 02:39 as he said he would
- 02:40 going all the way back to the time of Abraham
- 02:42 and forward to Moses
- 02:44 and then into David's life as well.
- 02:46 You know I love it how the archaeologists say
- 02:48 that there is no doubt that there was a Jewish presence.
- 02:51 Well we know it because we believe the Bible.
- 02:53 And it says that literally, over Solomon's Temple,
- 02:57 there was the glory of God.
- 03:00 And we who are believers get to be in on this.
- 03:03 So we just encourage you to understand where you're going
- 03:06 and to understand what the purpose
- 03:08 of what HaMakom is all about, the "place".
- 03:12 2nd Corinthians 4:18 tells us,
- 03:20 we need to interpret things through the eternal,
- 03:22 through what is not seen.
- 03:24 You may see the Golden Dome now
- 03:25 but think about it.
- 03:27 Back in the time of the Crusaders you'd see a Christian Cross on that Golden Dome
- 03:30 sitting on Roman pillars on Jewish Land.
- 03:34 The Messiah's throne is going to be there once again.
- 03:37 And when it is, living waters will come from the Temple
- 03:41 and flow down to the Dead Sea making it alive.
- 03:43 This is going to have a new look folks.
- 03:46 It's looking like this for now
- 03:48 but it will have a new look in the centuries to come.
- 03:56 You know it's been said that Israel is 85 miles wide but 50 centuries deep.
- 04:00 And we're certainly seeing that in this series.
- 04:02 The evidence that comes up out of the ground.
- 04:06 And it's only just begun.
- 04:07 There's so much more that is going to come.
- 04:09 The archaeologists, they say that there's
- 04:11 decades and decades ahead of what we are going to find.
- 04:14 Well it's a matter of funds, having enough funds to be able to do
- 04:17 because they do it so precise.
- 04:19 They don't want to disturb any of the ancient treasures that are there.
- 04:23 And God really has saved treasures.
- 04:25 And I believe that he said it was even just specifically for certain times that we're in
- 04:29 just to counteract the lies of the world and replacement theology.
- 04:35 Yes, there's an orthodoxy in Islam that has a different eschatology.
- 04:39 That's a fancy way of saying
- 04:41 there is a different view of the end times
- 04:42 from Islam than there is from the Bible.
- 04:44 The Bible's is correct.
- 04:46 It is true.
- 04:47 It is what is going to happen.
- 04:48 But there is an eschatology that its banging against
- 04:51 that comes out of the Koran
- 04:52 that has to do with some very destructive and very difficult times.
- 04:56 The reality is though, that we know from Scripture that God will win.
- 05:00 Absolutely, absolutely.
- 05:02 Well, there's a Biblical reality
- 05:03 and then there's like you said, the Islam reality.
- 05:06 And we know that God's reality will triumph.
- 05:09 So, it's funny...
- 05:11 It's not funny but it's very, very, very serious what will happen in Isaiah 60:14.
- 05:16 It talks about the sons that have afflicted the Jewish people
- 05:20 and that they will come and bow down.
- 05:22 Why don't you read that for us Myles?
- 05:24 I will,
- 05:38 And there's something about the connection
- 05:40 of this Jewish history, Jewish Jerusalem.
- 05:44 Another interesting thing is that right now
- 05:46 one of the levels of discovery in this 50 centuries of depth
- 05:51 is the first century.
- 05:53 And so there's all this corroboration of the Gospels,
- 05:56 of the truth of Jesus coming out right now.
- 05:59 I remember on one of our first tours
- 06:00 we went to this new site
- 06:02 where the wedding of Cana most likely took place.
- 06:04 And so there's verification coming that Jesus was alive,
- 06:09 and will be back.
- 06:11 And so let's go to Eli Shukron,
- 06:13 one the main archaeologists very involved with
- 06:15 the unearthing of the most recent treasures in Israel.
- 06:19 Let's go there now.
- 06:26 Okay, we're on the road
- 06:28 that led the pilgrims
- 06:29 from the pool all the way to the Temple.
- 06:32 This is a special road,
- 06:33 the pilgrim road
- 06:35 that was built here before 2,000 years ago.
- 06:37 And the people were walking;
- 06:39 after they purified themselves in the pool
- 06:41 they started to walk to the Temple.
- 06:44 We're talking about stairs they just found a couple years before.
- 06:50 And this is a very, very special design that we know it
- 06:54 close to the Hulda Gate, the main gate into the Temple.
- 06:57 We know it also as a special kind of stairs;
- 07:00 What we have here; small one, big one.
- 07:02 On those stairs the people were walking here before, 2,000 years ago.
- 07:08 In the excavation I found a lot of things.
- 07:11 For example, what we found in the excavation,
- 07:14 we found a "Bulla"
- 07:15 It's a piece of clay with an inscription
- 07:18 from the first Temple period
- 07:20 that mentioned the name Bethlehem.
- 07:21 The first time we know the name Bethlehem outside of the Bible.
- 07:25 No one that did excavation in the Bethlehem site
- 07:28 had ever found where it was the family of king David was living.
- 07:33 No one found that.
- 07:34 No one knew where it is.
- 07:36 But now we have the proof about that place that connects it to the family of king David.
- 07:41 We know that the name of Bethlehem is real.
- 07:44 It's a real city in that time.
- 07:47 Also, when I did the excavation in the tunnels
- 07:51 I found a bell, a gold bell.
- 07:53 Who was using a gold bell?
- 07:55 The high priest was using the gold bell.
- 07:56 On his coat were 72 gold bells.
- 07:59 This is the first one and only one that was found in Jerusalem before 2,000 years ago,
- 08:05 that may be connected to the High Priest that was in the Temple in that time.
- 08:10 Also we are talking about the Temple,
- 08:12 and talking about the Temple Mount,
- 08:14 and talking about the Temple before 2,000 years ago.
- 08:16 But to go into the Temple you must go to get permission.
- 08:20 You're making a ritual bath.
- 08:22 You have a rule, you must be pure.
- 08:24 Who will check you?
- 08:26 Who will know that you really did the real mikveh, purified yourself the real way?
- 08:35 Who will check you?
- 08:36 So to know what is going on in the Temple
- 08:40 we know that to go into the Temple we have a gate
- 08:44 and in that gate is a guard.
- 08:46 And you can't go into the Temple just because you want to go into the Temple.
- 08:49 So you must be in the rule.
- 08:51 To be in the rule someone will need to check you.
- 08:53 And after he checks you he will give you a ticket.
- 08:56 So I found one of those tickets,
- 08:58 the only one found in the excavation
- 09:00 that tells us about how it works when you are coming to the Temple.
- 09:04 You must be checked before you go into the Temple.
- 09:08 And in that ticket is mentioned purity to God.
- 09:13 If you are pure to God you are allowed to go into the Temple to worship.
- 09:19 If you are not pure to God, stay out of the Temple.
- 09:23 There's a guard that will check you.
- 09:25 This is the how the people lived in Jerusalem,
- 09:28 how the people were going to the Temple,
- 09:30 how it was, walking in the Temple before 2,000 years ago
- 09:34 in the time of Jesus.

- 10:56 the very epicenter of the world, Jerusalem.
- 10:59 That's great.
- 11:00 You know we really couldn't do this without your partnership.
- 11:03 We're going to be hearing from Shimon Gibson,
- 11:05 the author of "The Final Days of Jesus, the Archaeological Evidence"
- 11:09 We're also going to hear from Hannah Ben Haim,
- 11:11 premier tour guide and a great spokeswoman for the Gospel of Yeshua.
- 11:15 And also, Shahar Shiloh.
- 11:17 Let's go to him first
- 11:18 because he's going to take us
- 11:20 back 10 centuries before the birth of Jesus.
- 11:30 About 160 years of archaeology taking place right now
- 11:32 and as we see around us there's a village.
- 11:35 Jerusalem has enlarged and really, really in a very small, condensed territory
- 11:39 we have excavated I assume something like
- 11:42 in between 67 percent of what their is to find.
- 11:45 So your grandsons and my future grand-grand sons will still have work to do
- 11:48 and may come and shoot a film in about 100 years
- 11:50 because things are just appearing;
- 11:53 pop up from the ground at any given time.
- 11:55 Tell us about the most exciting find you've been part of or you've seen.
- 11:58 Well I should say these are the Biblical impressions
- 12:04 which are bearing Biblical names
- 12:06 that we know from the book of Jeremiah
- 12:08 that comes out from the ground down here underneath our feet right now in the City of David
- 12:11 bearing names of high rank officials from the kingdom of Zedekiah for instance.
- 12:15 The second thing which was really astonishing for me
- 12:18 was the thing we just started up 3 months ago.
- 12:21 We just reopened a new site for the public,
- 12:23 which is the Canaanite fortress
- 12:26 mentioned in the book of Genesis chapter 14, verse 18
- 12:29 as the place of Melchizedek when he hosts Abraham.
- 12:32 WOW!
- 12:33 This place today is actually opened to the public.
- 12:35 We will be celebrating its renewal in about 2 days from now.
- 12:38 It's amazing.
- 12:39 And the history of David here.
- 12:41 1,000 years before Christ,
- 12:44 3,000 years ago
- 12:45 he established this as the capital of Jerusalem.
- 12:47 Yet today people are saying that he didn't exist
- 12:50 or that he wasn't here.
- 12:51 I think at Tel Dan there was a major find also regarding David.
- 12:54 So there are huge amounts of findings related to the 10th century BCE.
- 12:58 As a scholar, as a historian I should be very careful
- 13:01 because we're walking on a thin ice here.
- 13:03 10th century BCE has it's problems.
- 13:06 We yet fail to show a lot of evidence from the 10th century BCE.
- 13:11 We have huge amounts of them from the 9th century BCE and on.
- 13:14 Now in order for the House of David to be established there should be a David.
- 13:18 If you find a piece of clay bearing the name, "The House of David"
- 13:22 that means David had to die in order to establish a dynasty after his name.
- 13:27 Which again, this is what you mentioned from Tel Dan.
- 13:29 There are other findings related to the Israeli kingdom, to the Jewish kingdom
- 13:33 from the 10th or from the end of the 10th century BCE
- 13:36 should I say in the beginning of the 9th.
- 13:38 Yet from the 10th century BCE we didn't find the visiting card of King Solomon or King David.
- 13:43 It doesn't mean we are not keeping on looking
- 13:46 but there's huge amounts of Biblical stuff coming out of the ground.
- 13:48 I think there's no doubt in the world of scholars today
- 13:51 about the existence of the Biblical City of David here.
- 13:53 Yet we are still waiting for the great stuff to come out from the 10th century BCE.
- 13:59 One of the discoveries which was made here in the City of David
- 14:03 is this Greek inscription
- 14:05 carved into a block of stone.
- 14:07 It was found by Weill at the beginning of the 20th century.
- 14:11 Now this inscription is very important
- 14:13 because it tells us something about Jerusalem;
- 14:16 the approach the people took to the Temple
- 14:19 and to the institution known as the Synagogue.
- 14:22 Now the focus of Jewish religion was of course the House of God,
- 14:27 the Temple which is on top of the Mount of Moriah.
- 14:30 And all Jewish pilgrims would come for the festivities,
- 14:33 primarily Passover,
- 14:36 and to sacrifice in the Temple.
- 14:39 The institution known as the synagogue, the Jewish synagogue,
- 14:44 is believed by scholars to be something that was in use
- 14:48 after the destruction of Jerusalem,
- 14:51 in the year 70, by the Romans.
- 14:53 But this inscription dates from before the destruction of Jerusalem.
- 14:58 So it tells us that the synagogue existed beforehand.
- 15:02 The idea was that the Synagogue which is in Greek " Synagogus ",
- 15:06 in Hebrew " Beth ha-Knesset ",
- 15:08 which means "the place where people could gather"
- 15:12 was really a kind of municipal building
- 15:14 or a kind of place where people could gather
- 15:19 and discuss weddings, their sewerage system problems.
- 15:23 There could be some sort of teaching of children within that institution
- 15:26 Maybe even a little bit of the study of the Torah, their Holy Books.
- 15:31 But still, the place where you went to worship and sacrifice
- 15:36 was in the Jewish Temple.
- 15:38 So this is a very important inscription
- 15:41 It tells us about the synagogue.
- 15:43 And it tells us also; there's a detailed description here
- 15:47 that this was a place where people who came from a great distance could stay here.
- 15:52 So it was almost like an inn.
- 15:54 And this meant that Jewish pilgrims who came to Jerusalem
- 15:57 would be able to stay in this building
- 15:58 which was located in this vicinity.
- 16:00 And that then connects us to the Jesus story
- 16:03 because Jesus of course found it very difficult
- 16:05 to place himself and his disciples within the city.
- 16:09 They went to the Upper Room
- 16:11 in order to have the Last Supper together.
- 16:14 But then afterwards they had to exit from the city
- 16:17 just from the gate behind us this place.
- 16:21 And then along the valley to Gethsemane
- 16:24 which saw them at the place where Jesus was up to the point
- 16:29 where he was then taken by Pontius Pilot's soldiers to the House of Caiaphas.
- 16:37 " Zion " is an ancient word.
- 16:40 And what does it originally mean?
- 16:42 It means a place like a little shoot growing out of nowhere.
- 16:45 A dry place.
- 16:47 And when we look at even Isaiah 53,
- 16:51 the picture of the Messiah himself,
- 16:53 it's something that you would have walked by;
- 16:55 something despised, like,
- 16:57 "what is that little shoot doing there?
- 16:59 That is actually the essence of the word " Zion ".
- 17:02 Later on it becomes even a Hebrew word.
- 17:05 It's not just the name of the place
- 17:07 but inside the word "excellence" for instance in Hebrew we have the word " Zion "
- 17:13 And in the verb... it means to make a sign,
- 17:17 to put a signpost up,
- 17:21 to help you find the place you're going to.
- 17:25 So Zion is something you would have walked by
- 17:28 if you didn't understand the heart of David himself
- 17:30 and the heart of God.

- 18:47 We would love to host you
- 18:49 on a pilgrimage to Israel.
- 18:50 It is a life changing experience.
- 18:53 You know we hear over and over again from people
- 18:55 that they had no idea about the connection with the Land
- 18:59 and how the Word comes alive.
- 19:00 And I know people like to hear from us.
- 19:02 We understand that.
- 19:04 But we want to partner with the body and the Land
- 19:06 so our guides are Hebrew speakers.
- 19:08 They're messianic many of them.
- 19:10 they read the Bible in Hebrew
- 19:12 and they bring it to us in English in a way
- 19:14 that is so rich and so directly related to what God...
- 19:18 Well as a believer I believe that its a pilgrimage
- 19:21 that is our privilege if we have the ability to come
- 19:25 to take part in what God is doing.
- 19:27 He's fulfilling his word.
- 19:28 We're seeing it come alive.
- 19:30 It's not just a vacation.
- 19:32 It's an impartation.
- 19:33 And it's something that you'll never forget.
- 19:36 And I never heard one person regret going to the Holy Land,
- 19:39 God's Land, the City of God.
- 19:42 We're going to go now from the City of David.
- 19:45 Let's go north to hear from
- 19:47 "Our man in Haifa, Etian Shiskoff.
- 19:51 Shalom.
- 19:52 Just up the coast from where we're sitting right now,
- 19:54 in fact, at the top end of the Haifa Bay
- 19:57 is a city called "Akko".
- 19:59 Sometimes you will read about it with its French name "Acre".
- 20:03 And Akko actually in the Bible times
- 20:06 and ancient times before the first century,
- 20:10 was really "the" target on this Haifa Bay.
- 20:14 In fact, then it was called the "Akko Bay' not the "Haifa Bay".
- 20:17 "Haifa Bay" didn't exist.
- 20:19 At most, there were a few people fishing there.
- 20:21 But Akko was a place where empire after empire
- 20:26 landed major ships with soldiers and with equipment
- 20:31 in order to establish a beachhead here in the Middle East.
- 20:36 The Romans built quite an impressive harbor there.
- 20:39 And until today you can see the pilings that are down underneath the water
- 20:43 which constituted the foundation of that harbor.
- 20:47 Now Akko also has a place in the Scriptures.
- 20:51 And it's given a little bit different name
- 20:54 but I'd like to read this verse to you.
- 20:56 It's in Acts chapter 21, and verse 7,
- 21:04 Ptolemais then meant "Akko"
- 21:19 It's interesting that there was a house group apparently that met in Akko
- 21:24 during the time of Paul in the book of Acts.
- 21:27 And from one house group in this century, 20 centuries later,
- 21:32 we now were able to establish a full on Messianic Jewish Congregation in Akko
- 21:38 that's going until today.
- 21:40 In fact, I just attended the Bar Mitzvah of the leader's son there
- 21:44 where he read from the Torah and proclaimed his faith in Yeshua as the Messiah.
- 21:49 So as ancient as Akko is,
- 21:51 God has not lost interest in that city.
- 21:54 It's a mixed city.
- 21:56 One of the most mixed of Arab and Jewish Israelis in all of Israel today.
- 22:00 And I want to really enlist your prayers for greater activity of the Spirit of God to take place
- 22:08 in Akko,
- 22:09 in Kiryat Yam along this coast,
- 22:11 and Haifa,
- 22:13 and into the Galilee
- 22:14 where I believe the great move of God's Spirit will begin
- 22:17 that will eventually bring the Messiah back to Israel.
- 22:21 " Todah raba " - "Thank you so much".
- 22:29 We've heard the love story.
- 22:31 We've seen that this goes all the way back to creation.
- 22:33 Right behind me on the Temple Mount is,
- 22:37 " Eben ha-Shetiyah " - "The Foundation Stone"
- 22:40 The Rabbis say man was created there and then placed in the Garden to the East.
- 22:45 Abraham saw the Glory of God over this mountain
- 22:48 and came up here in obedience to the LORD to sacrifice Isaac
- 22:52 but God stopped him.
- 22:54 Looking down through the corridors of time
- 22:55 from before the foundation of the world
- 22:57 he knew that there was a greater sacrifice to come.
- 23:00 It would be the sacrifice of His [God's] Son, Yeshua,
- 23:03 Yeshua Ha'Mashiach .
- 23:05 We know now that the Tabernacle in the wilderness, the Mishkan
- 23:08 would not suffice.
- 23:10 Beit HaMikdash , "The Temple",
- 23:11 even the Temple would not suffice
- 23:14 because Solomon told us in II Chronicles 6:18,
- 23:23 He's greater than His creation.
- 23:25 He's always been greater than His creation
- 23:27 and always will be.
- 23:29 Solomon built here,
- 23:30 Herod built here.
- 23:32 There will be a Tribulation Temple here
- 23:34 and a Millennial Temple here.
- 23:36 But God said that he would establish the throne of David
- 23:39 and David's seed would always rule from this place.
- 23:43 And we know that seed is the root of Jesse from the tribe of Judah,
- 23:48 Yeshua HaMashiach ,
- 23:50 the LION of the Tribe of Judah.
- 23:52 He came first as a Lamb.
- 23:53 But he is returning as
- 23:54 the LION of the Tribe of Judah.
- 23:56 Born a Jew, died a Jew,
- 23:58 coming back as
- 23:59 the LION of the Tribe of Judah.
- 24:01 We understand that Islam is on the rise.
- 24:03 There's contention for this place...
- 24:05 Location, location, location.
- 24:07 Epicenter - "Ground Zero"
- 24:09 The center of the earth right behind me.
- 24:12 But there's going to come a change to this area.
- 24:14 There will be a day when there will not be
- 24:17 that gold dome.
- 24:19 But rather, it will become again
- 24:20 the place where the God of creation is worshipped.
- 24:23 And the Gentiles, the nations,
- 24:25 will come up to worship
- 24:27 at the time of Sukkot, at the time of "Tabernacles".
- 24:29 Fresh water will flow from these mountains
- 24:32 down to the Dead Sea and make them alive.
- 24:34 It's a story of hope.
- 24:35 And we want to leave you with a word of hope.
- 24:38 This prayer goes back to the time of Moses and Aaron.
- 24:41 God told Moses to have Aaron stand before the people
- 24:44 and bless them in this way.
- 24:46 And whenever this prayer is prayed
- 24:48 He would put his Name on everyone who heard.
- 24:51 So we send you out with peace.
